DIBs Policy and Information (Volunteering)

WSPHA relies on volunteers to keep our organization running. DIBS (Volunteer) opportunities include assisting with Tournaments, Fundraising, and operating the West St. Paul concession stand for WSPHA events and Warriors and Riveters high school home games.

How to Volunteer

Volunteering opportunities are accessed through the WSPHA Crossbar website on your phone or your computer. At this time, you cannot sign up for volunteering in the Crossbar mobile app. We will update you if and when that functionality becomes available. You must be logged in to your account to view or claim available Dibs. You can access the Volunteer dashboard here or, from the WSPHA homepage, by clicking "Account" at the top of the page and then "Volunteer" from the menu on the left side. (For screen shots of the process: Volunteer Shifts - How to Sign Up - Crossbar)

Some volunteer shifts have been posted for November and December, but more shifts will be posted for our mites and travel teams during these months so please check periodically to see if there are shifts that work with your schedule.

Hours required

*New for 2025-2026* This season almost all families will be responsible for fulfilling 10 volunteer hours no matter how many skaters are registered for that family, or what level they play at.

One 12U? 10 hours total.

Two mites? 10 hours total.

One 8U, one squirt, one 15U, and one Bantam? 10 hours total.

Families that only have a first-year mini-mite registered do not have to complete the 10 hours.

Buyout

When you register, you can either: 1.) agree to volunteer 10 hours, or, 2.) “buyout” your volunteer obligation for $1000. If you choose the buyout, you will pay the buyout immediately and you will not need to complete your volunteer hours.

Failure to complete volunteer hours

Any family that does not complete the 10 volunteer hours by the end of the season will have their credit card on file charged for the $1000 buyout fee.

Concessions

Most of our volunteering is done by staffing the concession stand. This year WSPHA will only staff concessions at the WSP rink, meaning we will have concessions open more often for our mites, boys and girls travel teams, plus Warriors and Riveters high school games. We appreciate everyone's patience as we have waited for the remodeling in the concession stand to be completed. We will be offering concessions training once the stand is up and running and will publicize those times and dates

Cancellations and replacements

Claimed volunteer hours may be canceled up to four days prior to the event. If you cancel within the four-day time frame, you will need to find a replacement for your claimed item. Leaving your spot unclaimed / unfulfilled can affect the success of the event. Reach out to your team and team manager to try and find a replacement for your shift. If you still cannot find a replacement, reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator. If this is not completed as stated above, the Association will consider adding a Monetary Penalty for future seasons.
