DISTRICT 8 USA HOCKEY LOCKER ROOM POLICIES

Guided by the national USA Hockey SafeSport Handbook, require at least one gender-specific, background-screened adult monitor to be present in locker rooms during all team events for minor players. Specific rules, such as those preventing electronic recording devices, parents in locker rooms for older players, and requiring coaches to ensure a team leaves the locker room clean, are implemented to ensure player safety and uphold USA Hockey's commitment to protecting participants from abuse, bullying, and harassment.

Key Requirements

  • Mandatory Supervision:

A gender-specific, background-screened adult must be in the locker room at all times that minors are present, even if coaches are also present.

  • No Electronic Devices:

Mobile phones, cameras, and other recording devices are strictly prohibited in locker rooms.

  • Parental Presence:

Parents are discouraged from entering locker rooms for players above the 8 & Under age group, though exceptions are made for injury or disability.

  • Co-Ed Locker Rooms:

For 8 & Under teams with co-ed locker rooms, players should wear base layers to prevent any member of one gender from seeing the opposite gender undressed.

  • Responsible Conduct:

Activities like boxing, wrestling, throwing equipment, shooting pucks, and eating are prohibited.
